Today’s best clinicians know that effective treatment of trauma must include helping clients connect with and release deeply embedded traumatic stress in the body.
But engaging clients in this work can be difficult. People who have experienced trauma often feel like strangers in their own bodies, disconnected from somatic awareness and stuck in the past, dominated by innate trauma responses like:
- Emotional numbing and dissociation
- Affective overwhelm
- Dysregulated autonomic arousal
- Intrusive thoughts and memories
- Loss of words or coherent narrative
- Lack of trust in others
- Impulsivity and aggression
Though protective in nature, these responses now serve as barriers to healing and living a connected, fulfilling life. How can you help clients release the stored trauma and re-establish the mind-body connection they so desperately need?
Watch Victoria Grinman, PhD, LCSW-R, for this transformational 2-day experiential workshop that will change how you treat traumatic stress in clients of all ages.
Through experiential exercises and masterful explanation, Dr. Grinman will demonstrate how easily you can integrate somatic and sensory-based techniques into your practice to help your clients heal beyond words.
Backed by neuroscience research yet practical in nature, these interventions incorporate yoga, movement, mindfulness, touch, interoception, dance, play and music into your work at a level that is comfortable for you. No previous experience required! Purchase today!

With the right knowledge, tools, and appropriate use of self, you can support them in healing, resiliency and growth.
This unique workshop integrates cutting–edge knowledge and research about traumatic stress, the brain–body connection, and how yoga and mindfulness practices help to rewire the brain for healthier and more resilient functioning and reconnection. You will gain a deeper knowledge base about what it means to be a trauma–informed practitioner, and engage in experientially based techniques that are sure to enrich and transform your already established practice or teaching style. This workshop is equally accessible to practitioners who have no experience to those who have extensive experience with yoga and mindfulness. You?ll be equipped with the why and the how of implementing new skills into your work and your interactions with kids.

Children experience all kinds of situations that impact their assumptions of safety in the world (and in their bodies): bullying, parental divorce, separation, an accident, or loss of a loved one. Any of these situations can become traumatic, producing anxiety, stress, and trouble functioning in everyday life—some of the top reasons why referrals for therapeutic support are made. And yet, children who experience traumatic stress are expected to perform, learn, and focus but often don’t have the tools they need to do so.
Yoga and mindfulness practices have been gaining momentum everywhere because they address this issue and fill the gap in what is missing in many schools, therapeutic practices, and parenting methods: a bottom-up approach to treatment and understanding of the child. Most approaches used today resort to talking and processing of information on a level of functioning that is not accessible when experiencing traumatic stress. Instead of starting with cognitively processing important emotions (such as grief, shame), yoga and mindfulness offer ways to address the body and sensations happening within (identifying sensations, triggers, feeling the internal self).
Description of Workshop Content:
This unique workshop integrates hands on and ready-to-use techniques with cutting-edge research about traumatic stress, the brain-body connection, and how yoga and mindfulness practices help to actually rewire the brain for healthier and more resilient functioning and reconnection.
You will walk away with the know-how to help children who experience anxiety, depression, profound stress and self-regulation difficulties to identify triggers, grow more self-aware, soothe their central nervous system, and feel greater overall safety and joy.
This workshop is equally accessible to practitioners with either many or no prior yoga and mindfulness experience. You’ll be equipped with the why and the how of implementing new skills into your work and interactions with children.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn to:
Describe trauma from a developmental, physiological, and psychological perspective.
Recognize the signs, behaviors, and symptoms associated with traumatic stress in children.
Know the effects of trauma on the brain-body connection, and how yoga and mindfulness helps to rewire the brain for healing, resilience, and growth.

This workshop introduces participants to the utility of yoga and mindfulness, and its benefit to our overall health and day to day experiences of life. Participants will be introduced to movement based techniques that can be experienced in a chair/ seated position. Kids with differences in abilities who are supported in a seated position can have access to yogic activity through modified strategies. In addition, so many of the environments that kids spend their time in are not set up for yoga on a mat or floor– school classrooms, buses, cars, airports, you name it! In order for kids to be equipped with strategies that they can take with them anywhere they go, practitioners need to be prepared to offer simple and sustainable movement strategies that respond to the fast paced and packed days our kids are navigating daily. This workshop is applicable to teachers as well as parents and family members. No prior experience with yoga and mindfulness is necessary. Just bring your self and an open mind! Email directly for registration.

If you are a clinician, you most likely engage with individuals and groups who are possible survivors of all sorts of trauma. By now, you are an expert at helping your clients to struggle better (or cope), and for them to experience resilience. But, imagine that you can be a part of facilitating a possible transformation – of reconstructing the narrative and supporting clients beyond coping and resilience. Post-traumatic growth (PTG) represents positive psychological change occurring in some who suffered trauma. In this one day workshop, you will gain an understanding of the brain-mind dyad, the role of mindfulness, the latest research pertaining to PTG, its markers, and insights into clinical interventions you can begin incorporating into your work now to promote clients’ journey to healing and growth. Event Details
This full day seminar introduces and immerses participants to the matter of traumatic stress, its relationship to the behaviors we encounter in kids and the ways in which it interacts with the mind-body-brain integration that is so important for focus, overall health, successful relationships and living with joy. The presenter will share effective and accessible tools and strategies grounded in movement, yoga and mindfulness that can be shared with kids and teens in a variety of environment and situations- off the mat! Many environments are not set up for yoga on a mat or floor. Participants will be introduced to movement-based techniques that can be experienced in a seated position. Kids and teens with differences in abilities who are supported in a seated position can have access to yoga through modified strategies. In order for kids to be equipped with strategies that they can take with them anywhere they go, practitioners need to be prepared to offer simple and sustainable movement and mindfulness strategies that respond to the fast-paced and packed days our kids are navigating daily. This workshop is applicable to teachers as well as parents and family members.

Not all stresses and traumas are created equal, and children experience all kinds of situations that impact their assumptions of safety in the world (and in their bodies). Bullying, parental divorce, separation, an accident, loss of a loved one, and so many other adverse childhood experiences have the potential of being life altering and traumatic. Traumatic stress impacts kids differently, making it a challenge to identify and respond in the most beneficial ways. With the most cutting edge research and tools, and appropriate use of self, you can support them in healing, resiliency and growth. This unique workshop integrates hands on and ready to use techniques with cutting-edge research about traumatic stress, the brain-body connection and how yoga and mindfulness practices help to actually rewire the brain for healthier and more resilient functioning and reconnection. You will walk away with the know-how to help children who experience anxiety, depression, profound stress and self regulation difficulties to identify triggers, grow more self-aware, soothe their central nervous system, and feel greater overall safety and joy. You will build upon your trauma-informed lens, and engage in experientially based techniques that are sure to enrich and transform your already established practice or teaching style. Gather with other highly motivated and passionate professionals to engage in an interactive and dynamic experience about trauma, and bringing connection and joy back into everyday life experience of children. This workshop is equally accessible to practitioners with either many or no prior yoga and mindfulness experience. You’ll be equipped with the why and the how of implementing new skills into your work and interactions with children.

This group of pre-college students came from China to explore the US and our education system before going off to college. I was pleased to have been a part of collaborations to introdcue them to how yoga & mindfulness can work for them. It was nothing short of spectacular! (Harvard University, Boston, October 2017)
